Description In "Home I", Lui Cheng Thak captures the quiet charm of a traditional Malaysian shophouse, bringing to life the weathered walls, intricate detailing and layered textures that speak of generations. The gentle light falling across the doorway, the modest table with flowers and the bicycle resting by the wall evoke the warmth of daily life and a lived in familiarity. The artwork reminds viewers why places like this resonate so deeply. They are more than buildings; they are homes shaped by memory, routine and the understated beauty of everyday moments.

Cheng Thak has been a full-time artist since graduating from Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1989. He's known for showcasing architectural heritage and disappearing trades in his lush and romantic style. Notable exhibitions include "As I Was Passing" in 1997 at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur, and recent shows like "Jalan-Jalan 2" at PinkGuy Gallery in 2022, followed by "Festive Seasons" at the same gallery in 2023. His works are held in collections of corporations, hotels, and private collectors.
