Description
Kuo Ju Ping’s watercolour painting showcases towering trees with lush green leaves, casting dappled shadows as three figures, dwarfed by the towering trees, walk along a path, seemingly lost in conversation. The misty atmosphere adds a sense of depth and mystery, reflecting the artist’s characteristic style of blending nature and human interaction.
Kuo Ju Ping was a pioneering Malaysian artist who studied at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Though his artistic journey was interrupted by family obligations, he became a respected art educator and mentor. He helped establish influential collectives and nurtured the talents of young artists. His own work did not receive widespread recognition until after his death, but his artistic legacy continues to grow. He has been honoured with three retrospectives in Penang and his work has been showcased internationally.
