Kwan Chin was born in 1946 in Kepong and studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore. He initially worked as a commercial artist, but later switched to batik and found success with his work. His batik paintings were exhibited in London and Miami as part of cultural promotions and Art Basel Miami.
