Description
Haron Mokhtar captures the charm of kampung life by pairing a traditional stilted wooden house with bechak drinks stalls at the lower end of the canvas. The vibrant blue background enhances the nostalgic mood, bringing to life the quiet charm of village living.
Haron Mokhtar is a Malaysian artist who graduated with a degree in Fine Art in Painting and Printmaking from UiTM in 1987. He won the Major Award in the Young Contemporary Artists competition with his unique style blending traditional Malay architecture and culture. He has taught art in various schools in Selangor and Sarawak, and has received several awards including Second Prize in the Selangor Landscape competition, Consolation Prize in the Historical Incidents competition, and Second Prize in the Merdeka competition. He has also had eight solo exhibitions, including "Warisan" at Pelita Hati Gallery of Art in 2011, "Haron Mokhtar Yesteryears" at Interpr8 Art Space in 2015, and "Haron Mokhtar: Kapsul Masa 1988-2018 (Siri Perakam Waktu)" at Galeri Shah Alam in 2018.
