Description Eng Tay portrays a tender moment of communal joy, where three companions are each engaged with a musical instrument - a mandolin, a flute, and a violin. The scene is gently illuminated by the moon, radiating a sense of warmth and harmony. The soft blending of warm colors and textured fabrics evokes a nostalgic atmosphere, highlighting Tay’s enduring themes of family, music, and shared cultural tradition.

Eng Tay, born in 1947 in Kedah, Malaysia, moved to New York City in 1968 to study graphic design, painting, and printmaking at the Arts Student League, School of Visual Arts, and Pratt Graphics Center. He worked in the graphic arts field until 1978, when he embarked on painting trips to South America and Indonesia, which inspired his artistic subject matter.
