Description
In this work, Chung Chen Sun paints both stalks and leaves with confident, fluid strokes. The bamboo seems to grow with ease across the paper, each line carrying a sense of rhythm and vitality. By letting the ink flow naturally, he creates a scene that feels alive yet contemplative, echoing the harmony between nature and the values he often expressed through it.
Chong Chen Sun, a Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts graduate, left his mark on the art world. He founded the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) in 1967 and the International Contemporary Ink Painting Association in 1982. Passionate about modernization, he tirelessly championed both Chinese ink painting and Malaysian Chinese culture on the international stage. Sun's works have been exhibited globally, earning him recognition as a top 100 Chinese artist and a top 50 artist by China's National Academy. His 2018 solo exhibition, "Background," at Pinkguy Gallery showcased his artistic mastery.
