Amanda was first encountered in 2022 in the forests of Bukit Piton, Sabah, with her two young offspring, Puffy and Mon, close by her side high in the canopy. Witnessing an orangutan mother with two young in the same tree is a rare privilege. Over the years, Amanda and her family were encountered repeatedly, revealing a story of growth and change in the wild. By 2026, Puffy had begun his own journey towards independence, while Mon remained by his mother’s side.
